Rams roll in back to back series vs. UNC and Mesa St.

On April 2, 2017 the Colorado State Rams faced off against conference rival Northern Colorado University. There were only two games on this Sunday and the Rams would walk away victorious in yet another conference series.

Game one was in favor of the Rams as they slowly but surely shut down the Bears and taking the victory 8-0. The Rams offense was led by Matt Davis and Jace Evans, Davis recorded two RBI and Jace Evans recorded two RBI as well with a double. The pitching was led by Jared Van Vark who went five innings and struck out seven in the process on his way to his third straight pitcher of the week for the Mid-America conference. The game was closed down by Mack Morford who struck out all three batters he faced and secured the win for the Rams.

Game two was another great offensive performance for the Rams as they took the final game by a score of 10-4. The offense was led by Matt Smith and Matt Davis as Smith went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI. Matt Davis went 1-3 with a grand slam which became the highlight of the offense. The pitching was led by Phelan Castellano who went four innings, striking out one batter and giving up one run. He was relieved by Brad Johnson who went two innings giving up two runs and was closed out by Mark Singleton who pitched an inning striking out one batter and giving up one run.  
 
The weekend of the of April 9th the Colorado State Rams faced off against conference foe, Mesa State University. The weekend included three games and they were in the favor of the Rams as the they swept the series against Mesa State.
Game one was an offensive onslaught by the Rams as they took game one by a score of 15-2. The offense was led by senior Matt Smith who went 3-4 and scored all three times he made it on base. The RBI leader was Sam Hughes as he produced three RBI in the game for the Rams. The pitching was led by non-other than Jared Van Vark as he went the distance for a complete game striking out three batters and giving up only two earned runs.

Game two was a much closer game but the Rams were able to edge out the Mavericks by a score of 2-1. The hitting was highlighted by a couple of key hits by Brandon Delay as he drove in the only runs for the Rams on an RBI single and an RBI double. The pitching was led by Phelan Castellano who went six strong innings only giving up one earned run and striking out eight Mavericks on the day. The game was closed out by Mark Singleton who was able to strike out one batter and shut the door on the Mavericks.

Game three the Rams got back to business as they put up another huge game against Mesa State by a score of 15-1. The offense was powered by Matt Davis who crushed a homerun and recorded 4 RBI and Matt Hart who recorded a triple and 4 RBI as well. The starter was Clint Watt, Watt went four innings giving up no earned runs and striking out three batters. He was relieved by Ryan Wargo who pitched the last inning, giving up one run and sealing the deal for the Rams.

Next week the Rams have a 9-inning bout against UNC in order to finish the series for conference play. Your Rams are 19-4 on the season and 8-0 in conference play.
