As Colorado State looked to travel to Lamar, Colorado for a four game series against Lamar Community College (2nd in NJCAA D1 Region 9 in 2019) to open up the 2020 Spring season, Colorado weather had other ideas. With the previous weekend having beautiful baseball weather and temperatures were up to 70 degrees in February, the Rams were able to practice outside for defensive work and batting practice. The coming week brought snow storms that periodically hit the travel route of the Rams through the weekend.
Players and coaches were itching to get onto the field and play some baseball to kick off the 2020 season, but that moment will have to wait until February 15th when the Rams head to Trinidad, Colorado to face Trinidad State Junior College (1st in NJCAA D1 Region 9 in 2019) for a four game series. The Rams practice this week in hopes to get on the field to open the 2020 Spring season. Colorado State features a different roster than years past. With the team suffering from a loss of 14 players from the 2019 team with 9 players being seniors. The 2020 roster features 11 returning players and 8 newcomers. The team is smaller than years before, but with just as much talent. The team has multiple position-pitcher players and versatility within the infield which makes this years team interesting with the ability to mix and match multiple lineups, the coaches feel confident in any lineup they choose to go out and compete against any team.
